Dr. Awad Al-Qarni’s Defense of Women’s Rights

Dr. Awad Al-Qarni made efforts to defend women’s rights and their role in society. Although public order oppresses the whole society including women. Women’s rights were among the most important issues for Dr. Awad Al-Qarni.
Dr. Awad Al-Qarni supported women’s rights. So he wrote about it, “One of the worst forms of injustice is what falls on the rights of the weak, including women, children, the poor, and who like them are only victorious with God’s help. Injustice portends the destruction of homes and the change of conditions”.
Dr. Awad Al-Qarni spoke about the main role of women in society. He also spoke about her right to work, “There is no doubt that taking care of the home and having children and raising them is one of the most honorable tasks, But the problem is that we limit women to that only, Whatever her qualification, knowledge and virtue”.
At a time when it was forbidden and criminal for women to drive a car, Dr. Awad Al-Qarni objected to punishing women if they drive. He wrote on Twitter, “A sentence of 5 years’ imprisonment for a person who supports a woman’s leadership is null and void, Because imprisonment and any punishment are not valid except by a final judicial ruling or a law that precedes the act in a way that does not contradict the Sharia. This is what is stipulated in the statute of the law”.
Dr. Awad Al-Qarni is a skilled and well-known lawyer. He has advocated for many women who have been oppressed by their families. He defended Maryam Alloush. He tried to communicate with her on Twitter, so he wrote to her, “One of your female colleagues called saying that you were abused, beaten and extorted, and your relatives – who previously tried to assassinate you – took your phones from you, and you are now being held by them??”.
When contact with Maryam Aloush was cut off, he tried to communicate with those who knew her, so he wrote to them, “Contact was lost with Maryam Alloush. And the information about her says that she is being held for forced marriage and against her will. I will post her full story. I ask the Commission and the Human Rights Association to intervene”.
