Nasser bin Awad bin Mohammed Al-Qarni is from the Bani Qarn tribe in the southern region of Saudi Arabia, the son of the detainee of opinion, lawyer and jurist Dr. Awad al-Qarni, detained since September 2017.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from King Khalid University in Abha.
In September of 2022, Nasser announced that he had managed to get out of Saudi Arabia on an arduous journey. He moved between several countries so as not to be noticed by the Saudi regime before he finally landed in the British capital, London, in order to defend his father, and to save what could be saved in his country.
Nasser began his human rights activism as soon as he arrived in London. Where his debut was through visual programs. In it, he revealed for the first time to the media and to human rights organizations the method of arresting his father, Dr. Awad Al-Qarni, and what he faced inside the detention center of harassment and arbitrariness. He talked also about the suffering of the families of detainees.
Nasser Al-Qarni spoke with many international media and press, where he gave an interview to the American newspaper Bloomberg, the Byline Times, The Guardian, in addition to the French news agency, and he had a visual appearance on the American Al-Hurra channel and CNN in Arabic.
